“I do not expect to be a mother, but I do expect to die alone”
My first solo exhibition in the UK, presented at Tony’s Gallery in London.
Opening reception Thursday 26th January, 6-9pm
Exhibition continues 27th January – 23rd March 2012
Even if you are a little far away, cross to the other side of the pond and come to see how I have created a crocheted mixed media sculptural environment to tell a story.
It is not just another apartment installation; it is the reflection of life, love, trust and lust in current times. It is the progression of my life as a woman, as a female artist put together through text messages, emails and personal objects and experiences… blood, sweat and tears and cum camouflaged with the sparkle of my colourful cheeky humour, as we all do when carrying on with our lives.

I have been always interested in developing new ways of creating a dialogue with the viewer on both visual and aural levels. For the last seven years I have been creating socially conscious public “actions” that shape, inform, and transform the dialogue between the performer, an observer and a participant. I intend to make the audience develop new means of interacting with the piece, realizing that their response greatly impacts the art, and the ways my forms are moving over time. Their response is the art, and my work is a mirror.

Crocheted Grapefruit is coming to town on June 19 (Sun), 20 (Mon), 21 (Tues). performers needed! $$$$ email your info to project coordinator Todd Florio at olekinfo@gmail.com

Crocheted Grapefruit is an interactive performance piece based on the instruction from artist Yoko Ono’s book Grapefruit.

beginning of a new work….

shows opens August 10th at Jonathan LeVine Gallery

After crocheting the first readymade, I decided to pay homage to Marcel Duchamp and so I crocheted the bike wheel on the stool. Recently, I was referred to as a street artist by the press and public. I wanted to pay my respect to one of the most iconic figures of the street art movement. I am placing a series of The girl with the balloons image coinciding with the Oscars as support for Banksy’s movie. What is authentic? Did he intend to do a mockery of the art world by being a Mr. BW?

If you missed it on TV, here I come
